Incident:
On August 30, 2005 at approximately
10:45 pm, an incident occurred involving an Armed
Robbery, on Van Ness St. between Wisconsin Ave.
and Nebraska Ave.
Information from Metropolitan Police of Washington
D.C. revealed that on 08-30-05, a black male,
in his mid 20s, about 5’ 08” to 5’
09” tall, thin, athletic build, with a very
dark complexion, and short hair, approached two
AU adjunct faculty members from behind and asked
for the time and directions to Wisconsin Ave.
The two victims provided the information and at
that time the suspect displayed a silver handgun
and told them to get on the ground. The victims
complied and relinquished their wallets. The male
fled down Van Ness St. towards Wisconsin Ave.
Neither victim sustained any injuries.
Description of Suspect:
Suspect 1: Male, black, in his mid 20s, about
5’ 08” to 5’ 09”, thin,
athletic build, very dark skin, clean shaven,
short hair, wearing black jeans, navy blue shirt,
dark blue bandanna with white markings, angular
face, high cheek bones, silver handgun.

Police Department.
Safety Tips:
Walk in groups whenever possible and look out
for each other.
Avoid isolated and dark areas.
Carry your cell phone and keep it accessible.
If you are approached, take note of the person’s
appearance, clothing, and anything unusual that
will help identify the individual.
Be aware of the emergency telephones (yellow
boxes on poles with blue lights or red telephones)
located on campus, in building lobbies, elevators,
and in parking lots.
General Tips:
Report anything or anyone suspicious to Public
Safety or to your residence hall front desk.
Cooperate with the desk staff by showing your
ID every time you enter your building.

for anyone walking on campus at night. To arrange
for an escort, call X-2527 or use an emergency
phone.
