Crime Alert - November 7, 2004
 


Incident:
On November 7, 2004 at approximately 5:00 pm, an incident occurred involving a Robbery - Force or Violence. Information from Metropolitan Police of Washington D.C. revealed that on 11-07-04 at 5:00 pm, a black male, in his mid to late 20s, about 5’ 10” to 5’ 11” tall, medium weight, with a medium brown complexion, and a light beard, approached a woman from behind. He grabbed her, picked her up, and threw her to the ground while taking her bag. No weapon was involved. The male ran around a car, and entered a 1990s maroon or burgundy Toyota Camry, on the front passenger side. The car was driven by another black male and the two fled the area traveling south west on Nebraska Avenue. This incident occurred in the Nebraska Lot located at the 3500 block of Nebraska Avenue.

Description of Suspect:
Suspect 1: Male, black, in his mid to late 20s, about 5’ 10” to 5’ 11” tall, medium weight, with a medium brown complexion, and a light beard.
Suspect 2: Male, black, driving a 1990s maroon or burgundy colored Toyota Camry

Safety Tips

Walk in groups whenever possible and look out for each other.

Avoid isolated and dark areas.

Carry your cell phone and keep it accessible.

If you are approached, take note of the person’s appearance, clothing, and anything unusual that will help identify the individual.

Be aware of the emergency telephones (yellow boxes on poles with blue lights or red telephones) located on campus, in building lobbies, elevators, and in parking lots.

General Tips

Report anything or anyone suspicious to Public Safety or to your residence hall front desk.

Cooperate with the desk staff by showing your ID every time you enter your building.

Utilize the University Police ESCORT SERVICE for anyone walking on campus at night. To arrange for an escort, call X-2527 or use an emergency phone.
