Incident:

On Wednesday, April 17, 2002, three AU students and another individual were assaulted and robbed off campus, while walking to their car from a club on Connecticut Ave and K Street. The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 A.M. The students were followed to and accosted at their car. The suspects claimed to have a gun and they prevented the students from leaving in their vehicle. One student was thrown to the ground and was touched by one of the suspects. Personal property was taken. Metropolitan Police of Washington D.C. were summoned and are investigating the crime.

Description of Suspect:

Six (6) or seven (7) black males, ages 18 to 22 years, short and skinny, black curly hair, all wearing t-shirts, baggy jeans. Suspects said they had a gun.

Safety Tips:

No matter how convenient the short cut, avoid dark and deserted areas.

Be aware of your surroundings and the way they can hide someone from you.

If you note something suspicious, act on your instinct. Leave the area, call for help, or take other action to protect yourself.
