Incident:

On Sunday, Feb 17, 2002, an AU student was robbed when walking from the Tunlaw Shuttle stop to his residence. The student had left the stop at 8:10pm and decided to walk through the Stoddard Elementary School playground to reach his destination. Two persons approached him from behind, displayed a gun, and ordered him to the ground. They robbed him and left the area.

Description of Suspect:

Two black males, ages 20-25 years old. One is approximately 5’10” and the other 6’1.” Both had an athletic build. Both were wearing dark ski masks over their faces, dark blue jeans and sports jackets. One displayed a small pistol like a derringer.

If you have any information relating to this incident, or witness suspicious activity, please contact University Police at x3636.

Safety Tips:

No matter how convenient the short cut, avoid dark and deserted areas.

Be aware of your surroundings and the way they can hide someone from you.

If you note something suspicious, act on your instinct. Leave the area, call for help, or take other action to protect yourself.
